How to Handle and Repair a Leaking Waterbed?

!±8± How to Handle and Repair a Leaking Waterbed?

Waterbeds are fun as well as they are a healthy choice for some people to finally get some healthy sleep. But waterbeds come with a small risk compared to regular mattresses. Whenever dealing with water in closed environments, the risk of leaking water is present. In regards to waterbeds the risk is tri-fold. First a leaking waterbed might just lose stability and become too soft so that the person using it slowly sinks down a little more. The second problem with a leaking waterbed is that the person using it might suddenly get wet (more or less fast depending on the size of the hole). The 3rd problem might be that water leaks out into the bedroom environment and causes a water damage.

A big problem is to securely identify the leak and to asses the damage. Is the leak fixable by yourself or do you need a professional to come out and fix your waterbed? If the leak is small enough so that you can fix it, where do you get a repair kit for your waterbed at all. If you are able to find the leak in your waterbed you should be able to see what the problem is and if you can fix it by applying a patch. Assuming that you opt for the self-repair you should then check what kind of repair kit you need. Not all waterbed repair kits are created equal as you might guess. Check the website of the manufacturer of your waterbed or call the retailer you purchased the waterbed from this will assure you are getting the correct waterbed repair kit.

Once you have a matching repair kit it is time to go to work. Carefully clean the area around the leak in your waterbed. Make sure you can clearly see the hole. Otherwise mark it with a text marker or other soft pen. The reason for marking the hole is that you can really apply the patch at the best location. Now cut the patch to the appropriate size, apply the adhesive that comes with your waterbed repair kit, and place it over the affected area. Push gently, but firm to apply the patch. Do not put any major pressure or weight (don't lay down to sleep) onto the bed within the first one or two hours after applying the patch. That should be it. Give it some time and then enjoy your waterbed again.

!±8± How To Buy Shutters And Window Dressings

Shutters and window treatments come in a range of shapes and sizes but, in recent years, they have been moving away from traditional country-style designs towards a more modern continental style.

o Shutters come in many different forms including café-style shutters (which cover the lower half of the window), tier-on-tier shutters (two separate layer of shutters), full height (covering the whole window), and shaped shutters (to fit difficult, or unusual windows).

o Shutters can be painted, but those with exposed wood add texture and warm natural colour to an interior space.

o For those with dust allergies, shutters are a great option; they don't harbour dust and dirt in the same way that curtains and blinds can.

If the normal shutter is not for you see our guide on how to buy alternative window dressings
If you don't fancy the conventional window dressing options, there are some alternatives available to you.

If the idea of blinds and curtains leaves you bored, you needn't worry. There are a number of other ways to maintain privacy in your home without blocking out light. Curtain Fabric

!±8± Curtain Fabric

Fabric curtains are perhaps the most popular window treatments. You can opt for a woven cloth, lighter or heavier. With the different types of substances on the market, the choice is endless.

The selection will be asked for privacy on the color space, such as heat or cold you want, and the amount of light from your room you prefer. For example, if you want to optimize the amount of light in your room, choose a lightweight fabric, with soft and warm colorsDrawing on their heavier than a tent. If the window gets a lot of sun, avoid dark materials, as they fade quickly. Other parameters need to be aware when choosing fabrics for curtains, room size, the shape of the window and the color and upholstery of furniture.

If you are buying curtains for a room that can be formally used for materials such as brocade, damask, silk faille, satin or velvet. If you select it for an informal spacebouclé, chintz, cotton sateen, linen and sheeting. If it is for a casual room choose from broadcloth, burlap, canvas, corduroy, denim, muslin, poplin, suede cloth or tweed.

Don't forget to check the label for washing instructions.

Before you look for fabric make sure you measure your window accurately. To determine the length of the pole to hang the curtain from, you first have to decide on the length of the curtain: sill length, below sill length or floor length. The thickness of the pole will also depend on the weight of the fabric. The width of the curtain should be a little more than the width of the window. It can be up to three times the width of the window if you want a lot of gathers.

Lining your curtain protects it from damage due to dust, sunlight (especially if its dark colored curtain) and in insulating the room. You need not line your fabric curtain if they're light, you don't want to cut off too much sunlight and the room temperature is controlled.
